Super School Skills! Monday, Oct. 10th 6:30pm-8:00pm
Classroom success begins with a healthy brain and a strong body. Challenges at school are hard on students and parents. Many children struggle to make the grade because their basic brain and body coordination skills could be better. These skills are crucial to a child’s ability to absorb and process information in a classroom setting. What are the physical and neurologic components to learning? Are there things we can do to boost our child’s learning capacity and maybe more importantly help them enjoy learning? Dr. Theirl will explain the brain-body connection and how it applies to your child’s learning process. Help for Your Child and Your Family Tuesday, Nov. 8th
20% of our kids are now diagnosed with a psychological disorder. Neurodevelopmental health is not simply a psychological situation. Children who struggle to concentrate or pay attention in school suffer academic and social hardship. Functional neurologist, Dr. Scott Theirl walks you through the physical side of these often psychologically labeled conditions and demystifies emerging therapies to optimize your child’s health and wellness. We will talk about the time for special diets and food sensitivity testing, the role of sensory integration and neurotransmitters and when metabolic testing may be helpful.
CHIROPRACTIC NEUROLOGY

Chiropractic neurology marries the biomechanic/orthopedic aspect of chiropractic care with the latest techniques of assessment and rehabilitation of the central nervous system. The result is a model of diagnosis and care that incorporates all of the patient’s symptoms into one complete treatment plan. This is accomplished via an intimate knowledge of clinical/physiologic neurology as well as pathologic neurology and how the different systems (visual, olfactory, proprioception, etc.) can afferentate (stimulate) the central nervous system specifically (for rehabilitation purposes) and how the central nervous system can affect function of any or all of these systems in turn.
The result is a treatment that is specific for your body and your brain. Best of all, this option is natural and non-invasive. Because of this holistic approach, many patients seen by chiropractic neurologists have a myriad of symptoms that can involve many systems including limbic (emotional), sensory/motor and cognitive. Due to the fact that all of these systems feed into and off of one another, it is important to have a specific treatment plan that results in positive outcomes for the integration of all of these areas. The end result is a well integrated body and a well integrated brain.
Most people associate traditional chiropractic only with back and neck pain. This new neurologic model of care is beneficial for many individuals with symptoms ranging from post-stroke difficulties to vertigo, dystonia, learning disorders and pain syndromes. Patients dealing with disorders of the central nervous system or brain based neurological difficulty who either have not responded to traditional medical care or would like other options to invasive/pharmaceutical intervention might consider evaluation and treatment by a chiropractic neurologist.© 2011
HOW DO YOU BENEFIT?
WHO MIGHT FIND RELIEF?
Those suffering from any of the following:
CAUSE AND EFFECT
Chiropractic neurology incorporates similar training to medical neurology but differs in application, treatments and therapies. Consequently, chiropractic neurologists may recommend treatment or therapies that may not be familiar to other practitioners and will
likely be new to you as well. Such treatment, known as afferent stimulation, is the use of elements of the physical environment that are non-invasive and non-surgical. Examples of afferent stimulation include chiropractic adjustments, brain exercises, light, heat, water, sound, and electric stim. When these afferent stimulation modalities are specifically and correctly applied to your case immediate results are often observed. Your nervous system will begin to regain its optimal function and you will begin to regain your life.
Dr. Theirl is board certified by the American Chiropractic Neurology Board. Certification is granted to those who complete the 300+ hours of post-graduate training and pass the practical and written board examination. For more information on the program, visit www.acnb.org
